Many states have similar laws, but they are more specific. For example: Chevrolet cannot both manufacture and operate dealerships in the same state... Obviously, DMV in Texas is taking advantage of a poorly written law to go after them. It is being contested in court. Hopefully either the court rules in Berkshires favor, or the legislature fixes the law, as there are many other similar situations that this law could then be applied to, if DMV prevails.
If DMV prevails, I could see something like F.R. pulling out of Texas happening.
GM has a factory in Arlington and is adding 800 new employees. There are hundreds of GM dealerships all over Texas.
