Forgot to mention the Ram 3500 is a "mega cab" with
the shorter bed. How will this affect towing?

With a travel trailer, it will not change the towing ability at all. The wheelbase of the Megacab is long enough that it will handle properly.
With a fifth wheel, you might have the trailer join you in the cab if you don't have the right type of hitch. One with a extended pin box, or by getting a sliding hitch, you will have the hitch slide back as you make a sharp turn.
