formaldehyde in all Travel trailers or just worse in FEMA

You house also has formaldehyde it is in a lot of glues but not as bad as in the past..... you can still buy products with formaldehyde and asbestos at the home improvement stores.........

For clarity:
1)Temporary housing is part of FEMA's framework when dealing with a disaster. The MH's are not GIVEN to anyone, they are leased to the occupant, utilities not included. They are owned by the Federal Gov't and used to house taxpayers that are in need of housing so that their community continues to function, people can work, and taxes still roll into the coffers.
2)Fumes from certain chemicals may remain above a hazardous level even if a window is opened.
3)The lease exists for 18 mo. from the declaration for use, AFAIK.
4)I'm not familiar with this. Could this be an individual case or is this solution for anyone that doesn't like their temp housing? I'm thinking the former.
5)This is sometimes true but temporary housing during disaster recovery is not a gift, it is aid by our Gov't for those that have been forced out of their homes. In this same thinking, the roads you travel on could be considered a "gift" because they are built and maintained with Federal aid.

For what it's worth, Lance is the only trailer mfg I've ever been in that doesn't "smell" I'm not saying that because I happen to own a Lance either - ALL other MFGS had a distinct odor to them, and like you said, some will make you gag and burn your eyes.

Lance because it's mfg'd in California has to pass some of the States if not Nations toughest air quality and toxic materials standards out there. California is very very strict when it comes to "parts per million" and whatever else.WoodGlue

Hey TenOC-screw you! Not everyone that used FEMA trailers were dead beats as your post implies. Are those Minnesota plates on your Ram? Maybe it's news to you, but that event wiped out an entire economy. Damage covered over 70,000 sq miles. 30 days later, another major hurricane hit. Flood insurance doesn't rebuild houses, shopping centers, hospitals, police/fire stations, power grids etc overnight. I truly hope your life never gets turned upside down overnight. I hope your home never disappears in a matter of seconds. I hope you never lose your business. I hope the place you work at doesn't get washed away never to return.

They never stop outgassing. The smell 'subsides' over time but it is STLL there in the product.

It just is not that strong as a new one off the line closed up shipped and sitting in a dealership until you open the door. Don't be fooled that if if doesn't smell it is safe.

how many years has it been that these old trailers have been outgassing? I wouldn't think that it was still an issue. but be wary of buying one as some didn't have tanks, you can identify one by it's cheap appearance and lack of windows.

I might be more sensitive than most but read about it before you put your family in it. What you think might be allergies in your kids is actually the formaldehyde. IMHO, JMHO RV'ers need to read everything about formaldehyde before using a TT made with formaldehyde products.

I stayed at a so-called friends summer house and ended up in the hospital. Turned out the house had been foamed with formaldehyde as insulation before they banned it's use as insulation. Henceforth why they moved out and rent it. :R
