If it is not a Fantastic Fan then it will be a standard vent,It is pretty easy to do your self, first you need to know the type you have then get what is needed.

Here are the types of vent lids,by the hinge type.

check yours then you will know which one to get.

I would suggest getting the Polycarbonate ones they last a lot longer. Also something like the Maxxair covers,they will make your covers last longer and you can keep your vents open in any weather.

Vent lids these days are intended for use over 14" x 14" vent holes but since they're available with a variety of different hinge designs which are plastic or metal the key to selecting the correct replacement is to identify the original by the type of hinge it has. Once replaced do yourself a favour and install a vent cover over the lid - this will protect the lid from being ripped off in the future and you can leave the vent open 24/7 despite the weather.

As noted above if it is a Fantastic Fan there is a specific dome lid for them likeThis one Then cover it with a vent cover to protect the vent lid from damage from weather and you can open the vent in any weather with no leaks.

The new Maxx Air Fan Mate 955 like this is taller and I have no problem with my Fantastic Fan,which BTW the cover is designed to stop when it hits anything. I like the clips,they make it easy to open and clean the vent cover. Maxx Air Fan Mate

I think you may have a 14 by 14 inch and should be able to get a new lid for it. A nice upgrade would be a Max Fan.

I like the Max Fan. A few different choices depending on your needs. Can be left open without a cover. I think a better design than the Fantastic Fan.

If the fan is a Fantastic Fan, there is a specific dome for them. I think they are all the same size, but the attachment for the lift mechanism is different.
