Framlesss windows VS Framed windows

bump it up. would like to hear some more opinions, pros, cons, etc.

Don't know if there is any advantage to the frameless, but the wife likes the looks of them so that's what we have.

They are fine for a summer use trailer. Not for a 4 season.

The dual pane in the frameless is not a very good dual pane - basically they are two thin sheets of glass bonded together - so very little thermal benefit.

The framed type of dual pane generally have a thicker glass and there is a gap between the panes giving you good thermal performance.

The frameless also have rubber seals that the glass is pressed against. Not as tight a seal as you get in the framed type. So long term, the framed will probably suffer from fewer leaks.

can someone post photos of what the two types look like? I'm pretty sure I have framed windows, so I'm not sure what a frameless window looks like.

I have frameless and have no issues however I do think framed windows provide better airflow.
In the end I like the look and simplicity of frameless

Another thought on frameless windows if you are talking dual pane.

I have dual pane windows with frames and when they start to leak moisture between the panes, and they all will over time, it is time for repair or replacement. I recently had mine repaired in Florida and I'm sure glad I had frames. The repair cost was $225.00/window, but it is $450.00/window if they are frameless. A new large window is almost $1,000.00 new so obviously repair is a better deal and with a better warranty also.

Just more food for thought.

I like the look of frameless, but really like the double-glazed tinted windows we have now even though they have frames. I would only go frameless if they were double pane like we have now.

pick the trailer and don't let the windows limit your choice.

i don't like the frameless windows because of air flow but they are neater looking and I have a/c, 2 of them so there you go.

I've had both. We liked frameless because we could leave them open in a gentle rain. We liked the framed ones because they would slide all the way back and let more of the outside in. We experienced a minor leak issue (easily resolved by the way) on both types, so we think that's a tie. Our framed had less tint than our frameless and in the hot Texas sun it made a difference. This time we have tinted framed so for us that's not an issue.

Just go to a show or walk around a camp ground and chat.

Oh and lastly, style. The frameless do look neater ;-)
