- transamz9ExplorerI guess until I find a problem with the Napa filters I will just keep using them. Remember, I take care of a Fleet of between 30-40 trucks and around 60 pieces of heavy equipment that run hard so I do see how the filters perform. I have fluid samples done on our heavy equipment both oil and hydraulic. So far so good in the 4 years of me being in charge of the fleet.

NAPA is not what it used to be. Fleet guard is approved filtration so is Mopar or Raycor on the water/fuel filter.
Unless filters are approved warranty can be denied.
The Napa filters I use are WIX.
I understand that but they are NOT the same quality as OE MOPAR or FleetGuard! I prefer to use something that is approved by Cummins.
I just swing by the local Cummins NW parts house on Swan Island! FleetGuard Filters same price or lower than Geno's. I buy many engine parts there as the usually have the best price and OEM. Great hours also 7:00 am to Midnight Monday through Friday.
I have bought the fleetGuard filters by the case from my local Cummins Dealer. Good price that way. Use the same filter on my sold 98, new 98, sold 11 and will be using from my stockpile on my new 15. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

If WIX filters are used by off road equipment and they have been around for 40-50-60 years how does that make them and inferior filter compared to OEM? Whose to say that OEM filters aren't made by WIX but have OEM markings on it? Just because your owners manual states that you use oil sold by GM, Ford, RAM etc, do you use that oil all the time? Same w/ DEF or fuel additives. If one had a serious problem that mfr said was caused by aftermarket use of oils, filters then the maker of such product should be contacted immediately.
Have heard the same question posed in snowmobile world about using Amzoil in place of factory oil. MFR has to PROVE the problem was caused by aftermarket oil and not just say it was to get out of paying for it to be repaired.
I guess using a CAT scale isn't any good either. I mean afterall, they guarantee the accuracy of their scales and if you got ticketed for being overweight after you used a CAT scale, they will immediately check the scale and if it goes to court, show up w/ you and pay the fine if need be.
I'd be leary YES of filters used by these fast place oil changes as they get whoever makes them the cheapest. If Wal-Mart sold filters under their name/brand (don't know if they do or not), but would you buy them just because your in Wal-Mart getting oil for your truck?
I am only commenting on Cummins filtration. FleetGuard is made by Cummins Mopar just paints their filters. FleetGuard filters have superior filter media called Stratapore. AMZ/OIL Donaldson make some very high quality filters also. Not saying Wix are bad they are just not as good as FleetGuard. - rhagfoExplorer III

Do you want me to show what I pay for my 2005 Cummins? $5 for the oil filter and $10 for the fuel. I run a K&N air.;)
That figures :W Ignore all proven tests especially with the K&N for your truck. Your truck your money, we all have decisions in life. Another reason to not buy used vehicles IMO.
I'd still have a beer with you though buddy :B
Never found any dirt past the filter on any of mine, but I do know how to install them correctly also. I don't use CAI set ups either. Only drop-ins.
I don't drink beer but I'll sure drink you under the table with black coffee......LOL! - 45RicochetExplorer
