Freebie

I'm very, very new, in fact, I'm a moron when it comes to camping, campers, etc. I've been camping many times with friends and love it, but never have owned one. My friend has offered me her camper for FREE. The problem is that she said there a few "soft" spots in the flooring. Is that something I should concern myself with after all it's free. But, I don't want to sink a bunch of money into it if after all is said and done the freebie may be more expensive than getting one in better shape. Advise, please. Take it to a camping repair and let them evaluate it? Not sure how to go about this.
  • where is the floor soft- could there be a roof leak or wall leak. what kind of trailer- make, model, year...
you might be getting into a lot of work and cost. are you able to post some pictures of the damage?
  • Yes agree on the economics. I'll try the plywood and see what happens. Would soft spots in the flooring be connected with a possible roof leak? I know this camper has set in my friend's drive way for 3 years without moving.

Confession, I'm a woman so handyman stuff isn't my thing. I have to hire out everything....ugh. I just want to park a camper (hopefully this one) at a camp ground to have a weekend get away.
  • to make economical sense, you can't have a retail business rebuild it. you could put a layer of plywood down over the floor as a possibility. if you want to do it right, you would have to rip out old, etc.
