Fresh water fill line

Noticed than when I have tried to fill fresh water tank the water would just pour out. Looking back when taking delivery of TC at Truck camper warehouse it did same thing. In my haste doing PDI after TCW set up camper on truck and setup in their full service sights overnight I thought tank was full already. Spoke with Adventurer service rep and was told it that Fill hose maybe kinked or slope is not correct. Went and purchased a 4' 1/2 inch water hose and cut the end off. Shoved the piece of hose down fill port and definitely felt some restriction but got hose past it and was able to fill water tank. Looked online and seems to be common problem with all types of RVs. Any suggestions?

  • Why not leave new hose in fill line?

As I needed to use a piece of hose with cut off end anyway-after a few times pulling it in and out I realized it could just live there. Filed off about 1/8" from female hose end so cap would screw back on.

Ours just chokes, no kinks-fair slope but unless filling really slow just easier for water to come back out. No issues with the additional hose, also vents around it. I only pull out enough to attach hose- inch or 2

Only caution is with the added hose, too easy to turn water volume up since it will take it, but also easy to pressurize the tank. If I can hear the air I turn down.
  • Wouldn't hurt to continue using the 1/2 hose. A benefit of using it allows the tank to vent right up the fill pipe.
  • Good luck Billyray. Just filled mine up again the other day (same exact camper) and did just fine. Must be kinked or blocked. Hope you get it figured out soon and feel free to PM me again anytime if you want me to reference things or such.

Yes Bedlam i think so too. In first pic the freshwater line lays over that copper pipe and from my view since i cannot get in that far in basement storage hose has a narrower shape to it.

You may not be able to get your head in that far, but you may be able to take a picture with the flash on and your arm extended inside (even better if you have a selfie stick).
  • Thanks... Will take care with hose. I read many threads on google regarding this situation. Thats where I got idea for 4 foot half inch hose to fill. Will talk to Adventurer about possible repair.
  • I don't know how common it is, but I can see how someone could kink the hose if they aren't paying attention. Fyi, watch out sticking the hose deep against a restriction. If you puncture the filler tube, the water will go in your basement.

  • I think the fill is kinked - If you have a borescope camera or can borrow one, you can verify this. You may be able to move/rotate the fill line to eliminate the kink if the crease has not set into the line.
