Fresh Water Tank Left Open or Closed?

I think I've figure out how I want to take care of my winterization process with everyone's input for the last 2 years now. I've emptied my fresh water tank and left it open the past week to ensure it is empty. Now do I leave it open, or close it?? :W
What say you?
  • I always leave the fresh water tank valve open and the hot water tank plug out. Never had any issues. I sanitize the water system in the spring when I get it out of the storage building.
  • drain and then close. a gallon in the tank want hurt anything. and it gets really cold here
  • I leave mine open. No worry about catching water in the drain and freezing. Never found any bugs in my fresh water tank, very few bugs around here in the winter.
  • I just turned the fresh water tank plug in loosely, to let the last bit drip. You can leave it loose all winter, if still dripping, to keep whatever out. Just remember to tighten it in the Spring.

  • I leave mine open when I bought it they had the water tank drain closed and it froze, I had to replace the valve and I leave the WH plug out as well. How many bugs live through the winter. Just flush them out when you start up again
  • if you leave it open all kinds of bugs will invade the tank. just like you water heater. close both of them.
