Fridge is leaking refrigerant, do I have to buy a new one?

As we were preparing to head out on a trip my wife said there are yellow streaks on the side of the camper. I took a look and sure enough there was a yellow liquid running out of the refrigerator and down the side of the rig. I could smell ammonia. I called a local RV dealer and was told I have to buy a new fridge. I emailed Norcold and got this reply from their customer service.

"You can replace the cooling unit. P/N 632307. I do not know the price. You may want to get a second opinion.

Consumer Service
Thetford Corp/Norcold Inc "

I guess all of you will be my "second opinion".

    You have to buy a new *something* for sure.

    Their suggestion for a second opinion is probably to verify that your refrigerator is actually leaking coolant, and that this isn't some other issue.

    Price is easy to find... Google "norcold 632307" and be sitting down... The prices I've seen so far range from $850 to over $1100.
