There is one local dealer who had a Tradesman 3500 CC with 6.4l and 4.10 gears for ~35k...not a bad price? it does only have the plain steel wheels and I'm not sure how much rougher the ride would be with the 3500 given the rear leaf springs??...in the 3500 series?
here is the sticker on the 3500
2014 Ram 3500 window sticker
You should be able to get that $42k MSRP truck for $38k before rebates and sales tax are applied.
I stopped by this dealer today and they came back at 35k after rebates, which I could most likely get down to 34k, just not sure if it's worth the effort for this truck. it's a very basic tradesman...steel wheels, black bumpers and grill, vinyl seats and floor (although there is something nice about vinyl for cleanup)
I wanted to drive it to see what the 3500 drove like with the heavy springs and the 4.10 gears but it was in the showroom surrounded by too many vehicles to move easily. If I decided to go the bare bones 3500 route I'll have them move it.
one thing I don't like about this ram is that it had the transfer case shifter on the floor, along with plastic cup/storage are mounted next to it on the floor....so why have a middle seat up front when there is nowhere for that person to put their feet??
also why do they make the middle seat in the back not as deep as the rest? why offer 3rd seats, front or back that are not functional??
going to look at a used 2014 that was a rental tonight.
Friend just picked up his Ram 6.4 SRW 3500 yesterday. Tradesman, spray in liner, cloth seats, aux switches and brake controller, carpeted floor. It did not have the chrome package, so black bumper/grill w steel wheels. His has the 4x4 knob on the dash He payed 35k. I payed 36.5 for mine in March. Basically same truck but I have the chrome package and 4x4 shifter on the floof, which I prefer over the knob. Mine didn't have a spray in liner either.
yes, I'm all for the shifter on the floor...one less electronic thing to break...but all the other garabage is in the way of the 3rd persons floor space....I mean there is already 3 cup holders in the armrest...I don't need to have a full six pack at my finger tips!
