latest update.
seems as though we have two options Ram 6.4(found local trucks with 3.73 or 4.10's) or Ford F250 6.2 (lots locally with 3.73's, would have to order 4.30's)
Ram #1
if wifey can be okay with the crappy front jump seat on the ram I could move forward with either of the following RAM trucks:
Ram #1 at local dealer for ~36k
Ram #1 window sticker
The above truck has just about everything I want except tow mirrors (easily added) and anti spin diff (don't know if it's necessary?) and also has 3.73 axle ratio...don't know if I need 4.10's for towing 7600lbs w/2000lb payload including tongue weight?
Ram #2:

window sticker
This truck has 4.10's, and anti spin diff, but also no tow mirros, backup camera, or chrome package. so if I NEED 4.10's it would seem wise to go this route even though the appearance is a bit more "work truck" looking than Ram #1.....IMO appearance can easily be changed..wheels, bumpers...changing axle ratio's/diffs probably not so much.
This truck is also only about $600 less than Ram #1
Option 3:
if my wife is not okay with the crappy middle jump seat on the Ram, which is also equally as crappy on the GM trucks, then my only other option would be to consider a F250 with the 6.2 and I don't know a whole lot about that motor...some searching seems to have it as a bit more of a fuel user than the 6.4 Hemi.
seat of the pants test drive back to back the 6.4 seemed to have much more "get up and go" compared to the 6.2, both with 3.73's
Katoom,
I have the 6.4 with 3.73 and tow ~8000-8500 lbs with about 2000 lbs of payload in truck and don't have any issues with hills or mountain passes. My wife on occasion has sat in front center for hour long trips without complaints, but that is definitely a personal preference and comfort.
