My thoughts are a half box half cage. The half box would be towards the front to protect the generator from the elements when driving. A full top also to protect from the elements. But the rest of the sides/back/bottom would be steel mesh for air flow. The top would hinge open to allow fueling. In a perfect world one side of the box/cage would also open so you could have a portable ramp to roll the 100+ lb. generator into place. My welding skills aren't too bad with metal but it would be great to fab up something in aluminum to save weight and not worry about corrosion.
