Actually the most challenging, was getting the spacer just right on the bottom of the hitch receiver to get a good straight angle for the rack .
The holes I used were the actual holes that were used on the tow hook.
That space in the frame channel is wider than the hitch receiver and I did not want to deal with a spacer in there, plus I felt tying it down tight to the channel on the side and bottom would more than handle the stress.
Going through would be great, you just have to deal with a spacer to accommodate the hitch receiver.
