Front Hitch Generator Mount / House

Thought I would share my latest build progress.

I removed the two front tow hooks on the GMC and mounted hitch receivers to the frame in those slots.
Designed and built the main rack, just returned from the powder coating.

I just finished the plasma cut of all the aluminum parts for the main box, however that build may have to wait until we're back from our next trip.

  • I also am going to build a front rack for my Honda 3000 generator. I like the idea of two mounting points vs. one and will probably fab up something using the front tow hook mounts on my 2001 GMC dually. For those of you using a " box " vs. a " cage " how do you know when you have enough cooling slots/openings ? My concern is summer temp's in the 90's and humid sure don't want to burn up a $$$ generator. A box is more secure and quiet but a cage much better for air flow. Not knocking anyone's design just curious about real world results in high temp's.

    Very nice.
    What generator are you going to use?
    More pics of your progress and finished product please.
    Thanks

    Steve;

    The last few years I've been carrying around a Honda EU2000i, however it takes up one entire exterior compartment on the camper.

    So I purchased a Yamaha EF3000iSEB, electric start and I'm going to mount it out there permanently connected to the camper (via plug).

    As I get farther along I'll send new pictures.
