I did similar. The new Eagle Cap came with some very nice-but long-center guides/bumpers. They kept the camper ~ 2.5" off the bed. I took these off and just use some foam insulation board between camper and truck. This allowed me to move the camper (and COG) 2" forward.The rubber strip is a nice idea...
