I have ~215k miles on my Powerstroke and used a antigel fuel additive a couple of times that I recall when the temps got really cold. The last time was this past February, but even then it probably wasn't necessary.

One can read this in 2 different ways.....

1 - That Cummins engines NEEDS extra help :B

2 - That Cummins is gonna buy Power Service and they are amping up their business...

Either way, I wave been in Ford diesels from the 7.3.. to the 6.0 , 6.4, and now my 2nd 6.7 and have not used anything in any of them... I DID use the winter blend ( white ) Power Service in my old 1 Stack Mack, "R" Model back in the day...:C

fuel additives ??

The guy that does all my hay baling has three diesel tractors and two diesel trucks. He uses lots of fuel in his farm and ranch operations so he has his own fuel storage tanks.
He just got his 9 month old green tractor back from the dealer after the fueling system took a dump. Now his late model 3500 SRW 6.7 diesel is in the shop with same fueling issues.
What he found out was his fuel came from a single source. The fuel in his storage tanks tested for the wrong fuel additive that gets added at the fueling rack.
He now uses a different fuel distributor.

Most of us use different fuel stations. We get a mix from different tanks and distributors.
If the truck load didn't get the additive package added or the wrong package its diluted by the fuel in the stations tanks or the tank in our trucks.

I use Power service in all my diesel trucks and my old old 3610 Ford blue tractor. The tractor gets about two oz of red tranny fluid for the old injection pump seals/internals.
OTR...LTL...hotshot operators using diesel equipmentuse what they like...myself included.

Some Howes when weather, to dispell water, improve lubricity, lower gel point, add cetane.
Best tip is one Ive used is always from my pipeline construction master mechanic backed up by local diesel mechanics , and my experience of owning 4 chevy diesels since 1986. just took delivery of my 5th a 2021 3500 silverado.
When I change the fuel filter, I fill it with SEA FOAM. In over a million miles I have never had injector issues.
Amongst our area loggers and construction operators, where machinery may sit for months between use Power Service is the go to for emergency , Howes diesel treat the gasoline equivalent to fuel stabilizer.

Ram didn't use the higher pressure CP4 pump till 2018.

Since my 11 and now 15 RAM I have not used anything.

Prior I used a fuel conditioner or two cycle oil.

Having a 7.3, my engine was designed when there was more sulfur in the fuel so yes, I use additives.

The 7.3s really seem to like the Power Service Diesel Kleen silver bottle when it is warm out. The two I have had both ran much quieter with it.

Diesel engine fuel is prone to algae growth which then clogs the fuel system and this is a very expensive repair. When the engine is going to sit for a month or more I put in diesel fuel stabilizer which is dirt cheap insurance at less than $5 per tank of fuel. The additive also keeps the injectors cleaner and more effective which helps wit power and fuel economy.

The high pressure fuel pump is lubricated by the fuel, the issue is that ultra low sulfur diesel has little lubricity. There has been many very expensive fuel pump failures in modern diesels due to the fuel and the extreme pressures now used, it is not just a Ford problem. If your fuel has a small percentage of bio-diesel, that may take care of the lubricity issue, but knowing what comes out of each pump is impossible to know. I believe that the high pressure fuel pumps and the fuel have improved a bit, but using an additive may give peace of mind.

I would for an older 7.3 powerstroke. Newer truck would most likely do an injector cleaner every couple years but not a daily fuel additive. Archoil gets really good reviews and cheap on amazon. Think its more designed for older stuff like the 7.3. They sell daily additive and also a bottle of injector cleaner. Oil treatment as well. I buy the 3 pack that contains each of them.
