Currently we are a month into our summer trip from Florida to western Colorado, by way of South Dakota, to Missoula Montana. Dropped down to Yellowstone for a week. Now in southern Utah, going to Colorado tomorrow. Just over 4,000 miles on the trip so far.
So far, with towing our Jeep Unlimited at about 4,000 lbs, running in the 60-62 mph range, the Lance 845 in the back, we have averaged 12.23 mpg for the trip. The truck now has just over 17,000 miles on it.
Towing the Jeep is costing me less than half a mile per gallon, so I am pleased with that figure. While I would like better mileage, like everyone else, for a truck that weighs over 8,000 lbs empty, loaded the way we are on this trip, pulling in the mountains much of the time, I am satisfied with the 12.23 mpg.
