We visited a dealer yesterday to look at PUPs as well as some lightweight hard-sided options. It does appear that the biggest hurdle (especially for DW) is internal storage of food, clothes, etc. With that in mind, I would be interested to know what strategy folks use to pack food and clothing without it "cluttering" up the PUP and getting in the way during the camping trips?

Our pop-up had a "gaucho", which is essentially a padded bench. I took out the cushions and built a box on it for storage. If something like that is not an option as said above a chuck box may work too, but you'll be moving it around.

It is actually. Most people don't take canoes, chuck boxes, fire wood (illegal in most states), and outdoor kitchens. Even off grid boondocking most don't carry a generator, we never did when we did that type of trip, not with a pop-up. Nothing wrong with most of what you bring mind you, just that your needs are far different than most people I see with pop-ups.
