Why not consider a big tent? They are roomier and less to worry about. No awnings to fuss with. :B

Haaa, I think we are not much of tenters anymore. Kinda got use to having a floor and beds up higher. :-)

You must be having a senior moment the smaller you go the less room you will have to yourselves.

That's what DW says too. I do have the truck to pull it.

These high walls today have push button roof raising and push button leveling at the tongue. Our old pup was a crank up.

Yes but our kids are grown and we are empty nesters. The popup should have plenty of room, as we get older we can each have our own bunk ends, no more elbows in the face at night! LOL.

Seriously though, can anyone give good reasons to stay away from the popups, meaning the level of work involved or disadvantages I'm totally forgetting about.

Popups are great. My kids had one as their first RV. The downside is they don't hold much in terms of storage. You'll spend a lot of time pulling tupperware tubs out after you arrive to set up camp. The other issue is you have to open it up to load each time. Should you decide to stop along the road for a meal or a snooze, you have to open it up.

Lastly, they don't usually offer much in the way of a bathroom/shower. I kind of get the feeling that you're looking to increase gas mileage by towing a shorter trailer. I doubt you would see a huge increase that would out way the value of having a more roomy/comfy TT.

Have you looked at escape travel trailers they have a 21 ft that fit what you need
