lack of b-pillar is far from new and also far from safe for both side impact and rollovers. one of the reasons dumped their old extended cabs for my11.
Do you have any evidence to back up that claim? Safecar.gov does, and when comparing the 2011 F-150 extended cab vs. the 2011 Ram quad cab, the both earned the same 5 star side impact rating, though the Ram (with a B-pillar) did have a note on the side impact testing, that they excluded from the 5 star rating.
So basically, if you dumped a 2011 Ford for a 2011 Ram, you actually took a step back in side impact safety.:W
Yes, Chevy engineers spoke about it in their press releases and detroit presentation when they replaced the EC with the DC. I was talking about GM trucks hence my 2011 reference when they made their major change. If it doesn't pertain to Ford then it doesn't pertain to Ford.
RE Ford, I own a 2006 (plus had a 2008 450 PU bought new) and love it. But I don't have blue oval blinkers on and the A-pillars have been week as hell for the last 16 years so I'm hoping the new ones are a big improvement.
