I did something similar with my cover..Left the cable jacks on it when I put the cover on and the fraid wire cable put a nice little slash in it from the wind..Has not gotten any worse which says alot for the covers we have...
I use a small 750/1000/1500 watt electric heater in it mostly at home..750 watts makes quite a difference yet is easy on the electric bill..
I think everyone has to pull a boner once in a while. I'm just glad it wasn't worse.
Electricity is cheap where I live. Actually, its free. ;)
