Future Travel Trailer (Empty Nest Models)

My wife and I love our Sabre 34TBOK but we have been looking around at future travel trailers for when we become empty nesters. We have a seasonal lot right now and we have our FW and a tent trailer on this lot which we use as a guest house. We would like to be able to take a travel trailer and go and visit our children wherever they may be but still be able to use it on our seasonal lot. We are looking for something with no bunks. The problem is that we are spoiled with our Sabre. It has things that we have not been able to find in a travel trailer. 16 Gallon Water Heater, Large Fridge, Ceiling Fan, Full Size Queen Bed. Basically we are looking for the same amenities in a travel trailer that we enjoy in our FW. What would you recommend if you were downsizing from a large FW to a travel trailer that still offers the quality and features of our FW.

    Our seasonal here is around $2000 a year. We are looking at trading our Sabre in when the time comes to downsize to the travel trailer.

    That seems like a pretty expensive proposition - seasonal sites here in NJ can be over $5K a year, and then to get another RV to tour with adds a lot more money. Then again, if you aren't paying on a primary house, or if it's paid off like ours....more power to you!

    BTW - I have never seen a regular TT with anything more than the 6 gallon hot water heater. It pretty much does the job for us, you just need to be patient sometimes. And we don't have a dishwasher.

    Check out the Rockwood Windjammer line with the Diamond Package. From what I've seen, they are one of the most luxurious travel trailers with amenities comparable to some fifth wheels. For their size and number of slides, they are relatively lightweight, also. I like the floorplan of the 3029W -- there's not many travel trailers with a full size queen bed and a walk in closet in the bedroom.

    Iceman, thanks for the reply. I'm considering doing that for a few years until I retire so that I can work in some other cities without being tied to an apartment lease. I might pay someone to haul it, or rent a one-ton to tow it myself, if it's not too far. Then when I retire I may switch to a Class C or Class A to do some touring.

    Pretty big unit to go for a weekend campout. Plus will just be the wife and I. So looking to downsize but still want the amenities that we currently enjoy. I just sold my Dodge 2500.

    If you love it that much, why not get a truck that can pull it when you want to travel.

    My Sabre 34TBOK is an awesome trailer. No I don't pull it with my GMC. I don't pull it at all, we have a seasonal lot and we basically live in it 5 months out of the year.

    Iceman, that's a nice trailer. Are you pulling it with the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500? Is that a half-ton pickup? That might a good setup to consider.

    I've never seen one but I still keep my eyes open. Seems like, with as many people that are spending more and more time in TT's, more of those amenities would become available. The latest fad is the island in the living room. So much for open floor space.
