That is how I apply it on my molded Fiberglas Bigfoot. I do it in the shade.
Apply the wax, and wait for it to haze. I then use a towel on the mop to wipe off the haze. I think using a towel to remove the haze is the most important.
I don't think if you wipe before the haze, is a big deal, you will just have to work a little harder. If you allow direct sun to cook the wax before you wipe it, you can use additional wax as a solvent. You put the wax on and imeadately wipe it off.
It could be argued that applying by hand and wiping the haze off by hand while standing on a ladder could insure the wax is in the nooks and crannies, but I find it too time consuming. TCs with metal embossed skins may require this method. I have a metal sided fifth wheel. On it I use the towel, and a soft brush.
