Generator exhaust

My exhaust pipe on my onan 2500 generator exhausts right under my slide out. I need to route the exhaust pipe to exit the other side. The pipe is 1 1/8 od . I'm going to try to use some 11/4 id greenfield and just try to patch the joints. Any better ideas out there ??

    DD: The Onan manuals repeatedly warn of tampering with the exhaust system. I don't know how much of that info is manufacturer hyperbole but back pressure could be a problem (heat).

    RickW - thanks for the tip on portable CO detectors - it could save a life.
