im looking for a small generator just to charge my batteries while in the campgrounds. (we dont use the a/c or microwave) so im looking at the champion 1200/1500 model. does anyone have info on this m...

Don't do it! (The Champion, that is...). They are obnoxiously loud, especially in a quiet campground. Might be OK for a NASCAR race, or for truck-stop dry camping, but questionable elsewhere....
If you are absolutely SURE that you wont need A/C or microwave, you can likely get by with one of the small Yamaha's or Honda's... about 1000W. If you have any interest in running either the A/C or the microwave, then start to look in the 2400W range....
