As I posted, that Honda chart which indicates measurements were taken at 9 feet is incorrect, which was later acknowledged several years ago - measurements are referenced at 7 metres (23 feet). Perhaps forum member Robert_at_Honda will see this thread and respond to clarify.
When it comes to gensets it's amazing how folks so easily bandy about erroneous information, referring to the EU3000i Handi and not even bothering to note it's an entirely different generator from the much quieter EU3000iS. :R Honda (and Yamaha) publish noise ratings referenced to 1/4 load and full load at 23', Champion simply publishes a single noise rating which obviously doesn't tell the full story. :( Fact is, these are ALL made made mechanical devices with gas aspirated engines and they ALL make noise that can be incredibly irritating to others, regardless of how "quiet" the owner may think it is, or is led by inaccurate information posted on forums like this to believe is "quiet" and therefore not obtrusive when in fact it very much is. :R
