Generators and Compressors

Ok, all of you experts, I would like to have your feedback regarding generators and air compressors.

There would be two of us (my wife and me). We don't expect to do 100% dry camping. In the extreme, we would depend a lot on the bathhouse facilities at the campgrounds we choose. Most of the time we would have electric and water service. Is a 2000 WATT generator adequate? Which ones might you recommend? I like the Honda EU2000, but am uncertain about its adequacy. How about y'all?

As for an emergency air compressor I am looking at the ViAir 400P (or is it the 410P--can't remember the number without looking it up--sorry). It runs off the TV battery.
  • Hi,

If you are going to dry camp and NOT run the air conditioner then consider an inverter and add a solar system.

If you plan to run the air conditioner then a 2800 watt inverter generator such as the Yamaha 3000 iSEB is the size needed. A 2000 watt may sometimes run the air--but not consistently.
  • As long as you dont plan on using AC or a bigger micro then a 2K will work out fine. Has for me!
