I was thinking this one has possibilities. Sell the bucket part and redo the interior, could be cool.
IH 7.3
Along with it is the IDI7.3, not the t444e 7.3. IE no stock factory turbo!
Original truck linked is an auto, not a manual as stated by one person.
At the end of the day tho, someone can take ALL of these and tweak the motors so they have the power to work.
My 92 ihc with a 188'wb, can out turn a typical ext cab pickup with a 3' smaller WB! Maneuverability is not an issue!
Marty - ughExplorerWhy not go for HDT like some others? If converted right, it can be registered as RV in some states.
- 2oldmanExplorer IIUgly, single cab, manual transmission.. no thanks.
- IvylogExplorer IIII would suggest a Freightliner M2 with either a Cummings ISC or Mercedes 330 hp with an Allison transmission. If the shifter is on the column it's not enough horsepower. I would want air suspension and air cab. Shortening the rails is usually easy as the holes are already drilled.
*Something like this is what I'd want, BUT the Cat engine is not a million mile engine and it's unusual for one to make 400K miles even at only 250 HP. The manual tranny would get old if you have not been a gear jammer for decades.
I would watch this one although you would have to replace the bed with a flat bed to pull a 5er. Also, it would need air suspension in a FL80.
PS: the 4300 had a Allison in it. - transamz9ExplorerI assume you are going to tow heavy? It will ride rough and be slow.
- rhagfoExplorer IIIJust right for a Popup! :B
you could shorten the frame very easily, add air suspension at the same time. - gboppExplorerWhat do you wanter to do? :)
I don't have one but, it looks like overkill for pulling a 5th wheel.
You will be a little longer than with a 350/3500 type truck.
Then, there is the maneuverability in a CG.
Maybe I'm wrong but, it would not be my first choice as a TV, unless you have another use for the truck.
