The one drawback with surge brakes (“breaks” in forumspeak) on a van box trailer is when a sem eye blows by you in the hammer lane his bow wave pushes on the trailer which applies the brakes. This was a concern on one trip towing with our 85hp diesel back in the 20th century :) :)
