The Ecodiesel is pretty useless as a family travel trailer tow vehicle because of it's payload. It's payload is lower than our previous Ford Escape subcompact unibody SUV.
It has a payload of only a bit over 800 lbs which makes it useless. For that matter, even the Hemi version is still to low.

I may just look at getting a 3.5L Ecoboost F150 w/6.5' bed. Mileage should be good and I've had good luck with Fords.
Even though I really like Rams, I hear horror stories all the time at work with their problems. GMs are liked very well at work.
After almost having to take GM to court over their reluctance to fix a previous problem car, I swore I'd never give those people another cent. I continue to hear horror stories about their ethics in the news with same type of problems.
I feel 'safest' with Ford since I have had great experiences with them. I wish I could say the same with GM. BUT, the 1500 Silverado does look good to me as does a Ram 2500. I just feel either is a gamble.
I couldn't agree with you more! My work route truck, a 2013 Prius Xsp has a 900 lbs payload capacity and gives 53~mpg daily. Two of my co-workers have F150s with 3.5L Ecoboost and a good friend just bought one. My next truck will likely be one as well with the HD payload package.
