I was confused by the threadtitle, which says they're going to be made here instead of (in addition to?) their Brisbane factory....which appears to be wrong unless something's changed since this May 4 posting at their Facebook Page Link:

Hi Dan, Eventually we would like to make Gidget available everywhere. Right now we are in production of our Australian orders and shortly will be opening orders to North America (Canada and the US). Before we can release to a country we need to investigate all regulations and compliances for that country and adjust our build to suit. - RobertRyanExplorer

Francesca, it sounds very much like both Australia and North America.Seems like a few teardrop designs have been emanating from Queensland lately. - SkiMoreExplorerWhat is the advantage of the slide? The tow length is the same with it in or out.

Well. I'm no rocket scientist, but it appears that the slide will give the occupants more interior room. As is the case with all trailer slides. - travelnutzExplorer IITo me it's just an expensive un-nessary slide feature that can have nothing on the walls or ceiling in the slide overlap area which eliminates storage compartments etc in a the already very cramped interior. With the slide in, you crawl thru a little hole in the wall inside the exterior door! Are you kidding me? I child's playroom at best!
The slide feature makes the interior width and height even less due to double walls needed for the sliding wall design and also the roof and maybe the floor too. It does nothing but add problems which the same length fixed length coach structure with non-slidout design would not have. A fixed length extended teardrop design would only require a 12" to 18" longer tongue length for having a fixed length turning ability without the trailer body hitting the back of the tow vehicle and it would actually weigh even less and cost a whole lot less. Me thinks somebody's been smokin some really good potent stuff!
The loss of interior room when the slide is in along with the air, dust intrusions, and water leaks etc that come with the trailer's aging plus so many other deficiencies make it almost insane. The slideout feature on teardrop shown does nothing really for the teardrop since the tongue has already been lengthend to make room for the slide length to rest on when out! So much money and non-commonsense wasted!
Please give me a hint as to what the heck a slide on a teardorp is good for? A hard sided folding A-Liner type design makes a lot more sense as it is about the same size, fuel mileage, and weight as a teardrop but you can even stand up inside it. About 30 seconds to go from folded down to fully opened and that's about how long or longer to open the slide on a teardrop. Probably cheaper also! - RobertRyanExplorerActually the teardrop is different enough to sell, unlike some US Teardrops that were on sale here.
