Give me your honest opinion.!!

We have a 2008 Ford King Ranch F-250 diesel that is a beautiful truck. Has 80,000 miles on it so far. We bought it used when it had around 60,000 miles on it. We put around 18,000 a yr on it give or take. Really just use it to tow our fifth-wheel. Our plan is to start full-timing in 6-8 yrs. Would you keep this vehicle or trade it in for one with less miles. Our plan is to stay a week a a time at any given place unless we get antsy and want to scoot to the next place. So what is your opinion?

  • Keep the truck, maintain it and drive it. The 2008 6.4 was not exactly a stellar performer for Ford (I know, we traded one in) and you may be disappointed in trade value.
  • I wouldn't do anything until you get closer to going full time in 6-8 years. Then consider your options.
  • You asked so I will tell this. Keep the truck. 6 to 8 years is too long to know what you will really get to do or what to do. Nice to have a plan but things change very quickly.

  • Keep it. If the engine ever blows (happens sometimes on the 6.4L) just stuff a Cummins in it! The rest of the truck will last nearly forever.
  • If we keep the truck we plan on getting a fifth-wheel that it can pull. Right now it's a maximum of 16,000 lbs with a hitch weight of around 26-2700 I believe. May be slightly less. It's like brand new inside and out.
  • Really depends......
What kind of shape truck is in 6-8 yrs from now
What size of 5th wheel you purchase to FT in
