Glacier National Park camping

We are planning a trip to Glacier National Park in August.

If my research is correct there are only two campground that will accommodate a 26 ft . TT and neither has electric hookups, only water fill hydrants and dump stations. They do have modern toilet and shower houses.

Am I correct?
  • Correct, no GNP campgrounds with hookups. Check the website for which campgrounds allow generator use--some of them in limited sites only:

    http://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/camping.htm

Most have toilet facilities, not all have shower facilities.

"Fee showers are available at the Rising Sun and Swiftcurrent Motor Inns and private campgrounds adjacent to the park. Showers are available for registered campers at the Fish Creek and St. Mary Campgrounds."
  • Or you can stay at the very nice KOA just outside the west entrance to GNP.
  • We stayed at Fish Creek two years ago, in August, and loved it. There are showers that never appeared to be busy. The water and dump station are at the entrance. IIRC one loop allowed generators with in certain hours. There was still snow on the hiking trail at Logan Pass when we were there.
  • or just outside the east entrance at St. Mary. Plenty of room for your size rig. The tour buses pick you up at the campground. Search for Glacier in the RV Parks section.
  • There are very nice KOA's on both the east & west entrances with full hookups.
  • Just a mile or two from the west entrance is the private www.glaciercampground.com . I stayed there 2 years ago and had a nice shady site with hookups. Wifi at the main office.
  • We liked San-Suz-Ed Rv Park, not far from the west entrance. Sites are bigger and spread further apart compared to Glacier Campground.
