My 2004 with Allison transmission only has 65,000 miles. I have towed about 3,000 miles total over the 9 years.
The transmission is making bad noises. I will take it to the dealer. My hope is that GM will stand behind it's product.
I don't see anything in the warranty info about a powertrain warranty or any kind of transmission warranty.
I want to go into the dealer armed with information from you guys so that I can get this trans repaired for free like GM should.
What has been your experience with Allison problems at low mileage and how to get it covered by GM?
What do I need to know?
Thanks.
Getting coverage by GM is not going to happen unless you paper trailed a problem during the warranty period that Dealer didn't resolve.
Your problem maybe something as simple as some bad seals -especially if Dex VI fluid has been used for periodic service -This is a no-no per Allison but a standard practice by GM dealers.....
Not sure where in Michigan you live but these three independent firms know your truck inside out....and do stock to wild high performance. I would hesitate to have a GM Dealership do the repair as they will just want to install a reman unit...not diagnosis and rebuild problem.
