My 2004 with Allison transmission only has 65,000 miles. I have towed about 3,000 miles total over the 9 years. The transmission is making bad noises. I will take it to the dealer. My hope is ...

When I visited W.W. Williams they had an Allison 1000 series
re-built on the display floor.... salesperson told me they get
"about $1500.00" + labor. Came with a warranty... so, another
option to consider. I was surprised at the pricing... but have
not verified as I'm not in the market.

just because they are the cheapest does not mean thy are junk. I paid $1900 to have a local shop rebuild my 48RE that came with a 3 year no mileage warranty. They are an authorized Allison Transmission distributor so they are not so back woods shade tree outfit.
OP they have locations in Mich and Ohio Locations
