My concern with electric vehicles is how they will perform in the cold. We are five miles from Canada in northern NY State. It's not uncommon for us to see -20F in the winter, with days that it doesn't warm up to 0F.
In that kind of weather, you quickly learn when you need a new starting battery! I am assuming the ranges they are estimating is for a vehicle with new batteries? What happens a couple years down the road?
Valid concern. But we live in Canada and do the odd road trip in the winter. 30 percent loss in minus 10 C is probably a good number although we count on minus 35. Still not an issue for us as our road trips are always about 475 kilometers. We take a 20 minute lunch break half way and top up so its never an issue. The car itself is great in the snow. All wheel drive, low centre of gravity, traction control etc.

A shot of one of the Superchargers on one of our routes.
