I can absolutely see where the OP is coming from. WHile extended warranties may not make sense for a majority of the vehicles on the road that is not so much the case with current Ford and GM diesel trucks using the CP4 injection pump. When they fail (rare but they do...) your looking at over $10K in repair bills to replace the entire fuel system.
I generally keep my vehicles 10-12 yr but will be selling my 2012 Dmax before it rolls 100K mi simply because of the CP4
