Hey Lessmore, me too...
Understand the why most al EV's like battery based platforms (in/on the belly), but that has a host of issues that is more important than lowering the CG. Plus by being on the belly, it has to be armor plate protected
If me, I'd toss the ICE, tranny and fuel tank
Replace the ICE with two electric motors, mounted low in the engine bay. NO differential needed if two motors (one for each wheel/tire).
The tranny tunnel and the rest of engine bay could become areas for batteries/AC/controller/radiator/etc
The fuel tank would become another battery mounting area, but this one easily removable and replaced at fueling stations where the standardized sizing of that battery pack would be replaced by a fully charged battery pack. Maybe by a robot and the stuff needed to design that is pretty much off the shelf
Now the existing platform and bodies would from existing stable of car models
But, that is too sane and easy for these folks...
