Yes, they would not want them to outshine the bigger pickups. Our pickups are not really made for utility use, they are mostly passenger vehicles that can carry light, bulky things in the beds. Engines are much more powerful than they used to be for towing, but payloads are less, especially in the smaller trucks. Toyota used to sell a pickup with a 2500 lb. payload but today's Tacoma barely is rated at half that much.
I'd love to see a return to a compact pickup with decent payload, a long bed, a choice of engines (gas and diesel) and transmissions (auto and manual).
