- RedskyExplorerThe people in charge of quality control at General Motors were ignored and two who then went to the feds were sidelined and their careers ended. GM had knowledge of defects like the Cobalt ignition switches that they allowed to continue in production and to be used in later models sold by GM. They did the same with fuel lines that would pop off and spray gasoline inside the engine compartment.
People died but no one at GM will ever spend a day in jail. No different than with Ford when Iaccoca decided it was more profitable to not replace the Pinto gas caps or the Crown Vic gas tanks even though their owners were being burned alive in accidents. In the USA corporate executives get away with murder. It is the American way of business where all that matters is making money.
My current truck is a GM but my next one will not. - LessmoreExplorer IIFla-gypsy says:

Your eloquence and reasoned approach, have certainly convinced me of your position. "
Les - mkirschNomad IIIf you look at some of these... A lot of them wouldn't have recalls issued if not for the lawsuits and bad press over the ignition switch issue.
Plus the numbers are inflated... The latest recall is for vehicles going back to the mid 1990's. You can guarantee the media is using the number of cars MANUFACTURED, not the number still on the road!!!
How many 1990's cars are still on the road, really? A mere fraction of what was manufactured. You can pretty much guarantee that anything manufactured in the 1990's that spent most of its life up here in the Northeast is either in the junkyard or soon headed there. - whiteeye42Explorerit is not better to have a recall and get the problem fixed then to wait until there have been a bunch of accidents like my dad always said (if it has boobs or tires it is going to give you problems)so with that said the trucks are only as smart as the person that programed the computer that runs the truck
- fla-gypsyExplorerThanks mudfuel07 and Francesca, you would think that some folks have their panties in a wad over some misguided loyalty to a brand or something on this forum. I mean "gee whiz" it was a simple question and GM fanboy wants to put me on a polygraph!

All of them. ALL, I tell you! Every freakin' car ever made since the first one rolled off the production line in 19-and-whatever has now been recalled.
What should we talk about now? :B - mudfuel07Explorer

Previously in this thread you indicated, the following and I quote:
"I am not trying to assess anything, just wanted to see how many vehicles have been recalled this year by the different makers. All the ammo needed to do a hit piece on GM is already out there, I just want to see how others are fairing in comparison. "
You indicate that:
.." I am not trying to assess anything...and then you further state...."the ammo needed to do a hit piece on GM is already out there... "
Is that the purpose of your posts ?
To do 'hit pieces' on GM ?
If so, why ?
Do you see boogeymen in the backyard at night? I just wanted to freakin know how many cars by maker have been recalled this year. I don't give a flying flip about GM.
That's funny right there! - BenKExplorerIf you have the time...here are a few websites that has a tool to find them
all...but...only by OEM badge, model, year, etc
You will have to go to each OEM, each Model, each year, ETC and then
sum them all up for a total. Unless someone has a link to a site that
already does all that
Nothing for all OEMs, all models, etc for any one year that I could find searching
a few minutes (this got my curiosity)
NOTE: there is ***NO*** automotive OEM that has NEVER had a recall
that I know of...

a recall order

Yes, but the same article said all the recalls could cost them Billions with a B.
Who is "them"? Do you mean the US taxpayers?
