GMC tailgate

I don't think we've discussed this GM ingenuity but recently saw a commercial for it:

here's a video:

6-way tailgate... the must have

you can delete the option for a regular tailgate but lose the power option. this tailgate is NOT available on silverado's because, you know, they are completely different trucks.

this will definitely set the mark for the truck industry moving forward.
  • Just be sure to remove your hitch first, it won't clear with one in place. Imagine that'll be expensive to replace when that happens.

What is electronic about it? I all looked mechanical to me.

That tailgate is a horrible idea for a contractor! I may eat my words, but I don't see all those moving parts being very durable or rattle free after miles and real truck use.
Heck, the easy down springs in my 2016 Chev didn't even make it 50k miles. Now it opens like an old school tailgate again.

This is just a gimmick and a sales tool for the yuppie and Saturday morning home depot crowd!
$20 says it wouldn't hold the @ss end of my camper up either!
We don't have a single truck that after a few year of work, the tailgate is dented and bowed out. Not a chance this will hold up to heavy use. It's just a heavy duty trunk lid!

I wish there was a sarcasm meter on some posts!;)

There for a micro second I thought we was actually serious.

  • The step is pretty cool, the rest of it is pretty silly, and more stuff to go wrong. KISS.
