I agree. Mine shifts just like this.
Its a HD transmission,behind an engine making gobs of power,towing a huge trailer. The trans wouldn't last if it shifted like a Honda.
If I'm coming up to a spot where I think the transmission will downshift,I put the trans in manual mode and shift with the selector switch. Shifting a bit earlier with the selector switch vs. waiting for the trans to downsfift on its own reduces the abrupt nature of the downshift.
