Are you familiar with the term "regen"? THis is when the truck every few hundred miles injects diesel fuel into the exhaust to burn off soot built up in the DPF (big filter on your exhaust). THis is likely what you are smelling. Read your manual if your not familiar with it.
When the truck is NOT in regen however you should not be getting any burning smells as these trucks burn very clean. You can stick your nose up the the tailpipe on these new trucks and it smells as good as the air coming our of your laundry drier. No joke... I have the same truck.
