Mooky Stinks: The click was coming from the engine, not the tailpipe. I heard it when I got out of the truck from the passenger side. This is a new sound. I haven't noticed the upshifting clunk but will try your suggestion with the upshifting and see if it happens. We had a 2007 GMC 1500 Denali before and never experienced any of this clunking sensation.
We had an issue with 2007 GMC tranny, after a while it became more noticable brought it in and they found a transmission issue I think.)
GMCSMOKE. I will take a look at that thread and share it with DH as well.
It seemed like we were going through DEF quickly. In the middle of our return trip it said we had 900 miles left on the DEF, then only 100-200 miles later it change to only 300 miles left.
We did an 8 hour trip to Canada (broke it up into two day trip - so 4-5 hours drives, then stopped).
The interesting thing about the smell is that we have BMW X5 that is diesel that uses DEF as well and I never notice a smell. Maybe it's because the BMW is not a "work truck"?....
The GMC doesn't get driven as much - mostly short trips (less than a mile) then every month or so it gets driven for a few hours with the RV. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Thanks again for your thoughts.
