The first real diesel engine was a single cyl. The addition of the added 5 cyl is obviuosly to make up for a lack of something.

That's the same company who handed GM "North American Truck of the year" last year, which GM uses in there ad's I might add :B
Nice and credible information from a a one horse publication. Clearly last year GM was last in power, last in interior and couldn't even participate in a real test like PUT.com did because of lack of payload for the big boy trucks :W
Looking forward to their new Colorado write up though.
OBTW that year of Ram 2500 didn't have the new Aisin tranny either thus less HP/TQ numbers.
Can't wait for a "real" test of the big three 350/3500's DRW's though.
Hope they can all make spec's this year, or do I need to wait till 2016-2017 :H

Your getting caught up in the marketing campaign again. Who's to say RAM's 3500 DRW is really a 4500 DRW truck! Maybe I should put a F150 badge on my Super Duty and go give the half ton truck boys some hell.

I had the same experience as you did, with the Dodge and Ram trucks that I've owned most recently, all towing the same 5er though the same mountains. This 2013 Ram builds speed faster and tows better than the 2010 Dodge 3500 Dually I had AND the 2012 Ram 3500 also, (all three with 4:10), though this one does have the Aisin tranny, where as the other two had the 68RFE. In comparison, it tows my 16,000# 5er effortlessly, and it's a 3500 dually, not a 4500...unless YOU just want to say it is....your privilege to do so.

I'll go with it being a 3500..it's officially badged that way by Ram, just as Ford badged your truck an F350, just as GM has officially badged their 1ton as a 3500..Ram, like Ford, does have an actual 4500 Series truck just like Ford has their F450.

I don't know what you are talking about. In the video I linked, the Ford (2015 mind you) was actually the fastest. I always care who is fastest and has the most power no matter the brand. Here's an extra smile for you buddy --> :B

What I'd REALLY like to see is a shootout between the 2500/250's with gas engines and 4.10 gears. They all have 6 speeds, and all have the same rear gear ratios available - unlike the diesels (Ram 3.42 only in SRW, Ford 3.31 or 3.55, Duramax 3.73 only). That would be a good toe to toe battle. :)

me thinks the videos were earlier than the latest ones. I always said I don't care about speed and still do not.:B

I understand your point about you don't care about speed and that's a valid position, but let me put this in another perspective.

I went from a 05 Super Duty to a 12 Super Duty and while pulling the same trailer and boat my 12 Super Duty can run circles around my old 05 truck, but putting speed aside, the power that makes the my 12 truck faster also makes towing soooo much easier and effortless driving either fast or slow.
