So basically the frame is really the weak spot. I am pretty confident that Can-Am RV would extend the receiver up the frame and attach it near the rear axle. Here is a pic of some of their work on a unibody car.
While this would reinforce the hitch it would also mitigate the rear crumple zone the new Suburbans have. If this was to be done I am not sure why one wouldn't just reinforce the factory hitch, why add on a monstrosity that adds zero real capacity and detracts from the looks of the Suburban.
