You need to go look at the two in person. Everybody claimed my Ram 3500 had helper springs. However, when I went to pick it up at the dealership, the helper springs weren't there. Then I went out and looked at a few others and none of the 3500 SRW had the helper spring. Double checked and found out the helper springs are only put on the 3500 DRW.
That being said, my 2015 truck in complete stock form without the helper springs actually carries my 2400# camper better than the 2004 did with factory helper springs and upper stable loads.
