This is an area I think people don't do a lot of research on: modified vs sine, and what is acceptable for each to power. From what I gather, MSW is a killer on anything with a motor. The harmonic distortion beats up the bearing(s)
to the point of failure. It occurs gradually, over time. While a hair-dryer, microwave or refrig. may in fact run for quite a while, it will eventually kill the motor. Many sensitive electronics don't seem to like MSW either.
I know that many devices have AC/DC adapters, but then, why go from DC to AC back to DC in the first place?
