Discount Tire (a.k.a. Americas Tire) has a $100 rebate card going through the weekend on "best tires". Just ordered my tires, will put them on when they get in stock.
I like giving the business to my local Discount Tire dealer. They have provided excellent service over the years.
Stu
x2 on the service.
and another $60 for using the discount tire credit card.
Nice thing about discount is that they don't squabble about giving credit for the tire mileage warranty. My last set of Michelins had a 70K mileage warranty, truck went to our son, like my experience, tires were pretty well gone after 40K,
He got $70/tire warranty credit on new tires. Noticed that the new michelins no longer have a 70K mileage warranty, now it's 50K.
I've had 5 cases now where I received significant credit for not getting rated mileage on tires through Discount/America's tire. Cuts the cost of tires by around 30% or more. And when I wait for the sales like this one coming up saves even more.
the Michelin LTX in 245/75-16 LRE were 162 less 70 per tire for mileage credit so about $90/tire + 20 for mounting and balancing.
In his case, one tire had a big lag bolt, hence ruined tire, which was covered under the lifetime road hazard. so under $340 for new tires. And even though I bought the tires when I owned the truck, they transferred the warranty to him.
In another case on some very low profile 35 series tires I hit an exposed small water main cover that blew one tire, big egg in another in the middle of montana. Called discount, they didn't have a store nearby, and couldn't find a source for an exact replacment, gave me an option of overnighting tires for install on a monday, but I needed to leave on sunday. They said buy 2 new tires, bring in the receipt when you get back and we will cut you a check and replace the tires. No need to bring back the bad tires. They didn't even ask for a picture. They had appointment set up for me when I returned, and swapped the tires and cut me a check.
